description

Written by Jean Durieux, a French politician, for Paris Match, this article reveals the vision behind the Languedoc-Roussillon coastal tourism development project. Tanguy de Rémur produced a series of utopian and fantastical illustrations, supposedly representing a new leisure society. Published at the start of major development work in 1964, the article was a major endorsement of the project initiated a year earlier by General de Gaulle and Pierre Racine, chief of staff of the prime Minister Michel Debré.
